UK Defence Industrial and Technology Policy –
The Green Paper
First impressions for the defence industry - How it will affect the UK industrial base, jobs, capabilities and strategies
11 January 2011 at 9:00am UK timeThe impending UK defence industrial policy green paper is scheduled to be published before the end of the year. Following on from the publication of the UK Strategic Defence and Security Review and the Comprehensive Spending Review of October – and ahead of a defence industrial policy white paper in early 2011 – the Defence Industrial and Technology Policy (DITP) will mark the first firm indication of the government’s approach to the defence sector since 2005.
IHS Jane’s is aware of how much this will affect the industry, with questions arising over jobs, skills, capabilities and corporate strategies and on Tuesday 11 January will be hosting an online seminar to digest the green paper; hear our expert analysts’ initial thoughts; and first impressions.
The session will be chaired by James Green, director of IHS Jane’s Defence and Security News and Analysis and speakers will include Guy Anderson (editor and lead analyst, Jane’s Defence Industry); Dr David Sloggett (an independent analyst specialising in the field of asymmetric warfare), Jane’s senior defence economics analyst Fenella McGerty, Jane's Defence Weekly correspondent Tim Ripley and Jane’s Defence Weekly editor Peter Felstead.
