Shaping the UK’s future defence capability:
Jane’s debates the Strategic Defence & Security Review
Wednesday 6 October 2010
Within the context of significant spending cuts, myriad and diverse security threats, emerging weapon technologies and the fact that the last defence review was 12 years ago, the impact of this UK SDSR will be transformational for the UK’s armed forces.
The key task for policymakers will be to balance resources and requirements and decide if the UK can continue to project a strategic effect and serve all its national security interests while cutting costs. Determining which capabilities to prioritise and which to cut has been the subject of vigorous public debate to which a panel of Jane’s experts, representing specialist areas of interest within the three main services, will offer their views. Customers will also have the opportunity to pose their own questions to the panel.
