Saab unveils SMART MCMToday sees the full launch of Saab’s SMART mine countermeasures solution, following a preview at the Underwater Defence Technology conference at Cannes in June. The SMART – Safe, Modular, Autonomous, Remote-controlled Technology – mine countermeasures system is, in effect, a toolbox of modules that can be configured to answer a wide range of MCM needs, both in the civil and military worlds.

High-quality connectors
UK company Aerco is showing a range of high quality connectors on Stand 889. Notable is the Deutsch DTS, a new range of D38999 connectors in high-current circular, rugged RJ45 and Quadrax formats. The DTS-HC connectors incorporate high electrical power and signal contacts within the same body and are ideal for power control systems in military vehicles, while the RJ45, long used for LANs in stable environments, has been adapted for harsh environments. The Series 3 Quadrax connector has been introduced to meet the needs of complex cable systems.

Secure VPN anywhere
Crypto AG is introducing the superfast IP VPN Encryption 1 Gigabit on Stand 1879 in the Swiss Pavilion. The HC-7845 Gigabit version transforms a broadband IP communication network into a secure virtual private network (VPN), regardless of which national or international LAN or WAN is used. Its enormous IP transmission speed enables it to secure data traffic over many types of network. Secure point-to-point connections are possible, as are star configurations between headquarters and hundreds of offices and mobile clients. Also shown are the Mobile Client HC-7835 and the MultiCom Radio Encryption HC-2650.

UK-based air cushion vehicle builder Griffon Hoverwork (Stand 1649) will this week launch the first of four new 2400TD hovercraft for the Royal Marines from its Southampton yard.

Latest BvS 10 appears in London
Latest BvS 10 appears in LondonThe latest model of the battle-proven BAE Systems Global Combat Systems BvS 10 tracked all-terrain armoured vehicle, the BvS 10 Mk II, is making its first public appearance at DSEi on Stand 465. The company recently completed development and has already ordered long lead items to allow production to commence in the near future.

Clarion call
Clarion callClarion Events, the UK’s largest independent and one of the top three event organisers, has a growing portfolio of security and defence events, which has been developed through acquisition and launches over the past year. The latest acquisition of the Counter Terror Expo conference from Niche Events, announced in July, and the launch of CNi Expo, which is focused on the security and resilience of the nation’s critical infrastructure, brings the total to seven.
