Enhanced comms
Wednesday, 9 September, 2009
Selex Communications (Stand 565) is displaying a range of new communication systems here at DSEi. Among them is the company’s new Fixed Base Force Protection (FBFP) system that provides a cohesive communications infrastructure for the security of fixed bases and their perimeters.
FBFP builds on the capabilities of Selex’s Enhanced Personal Role Radio (EZPRR), whose range has been extended to more than 2.5km through the deployment of a Command Post System (CPS) and a Rebroadcast Station System (RRB). Two soldiers can set up a CPS in less than 15 minutes, while RRBs can be rapidly established to cover any communications blackspots.
FBFP provides a secure net with encrypted voice comms, simple user interface and backwards-compatibility with PRR. The CPS maintains links with static and mobile patrols within and around the base.
The company is also showing its Soldier System Radio Plus, again based on the existing PRR. Cost-effective and simple to use, SRR Plus incorporates advanced features that are applicable to soldier modernisation efforts, such as access to a networked data service, priority voice interrupt, vehicle compatibility, dual net capability, integral GPS and automatic relay.
In other developments, Selex has enhanced its In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing protection system using the latest digital signal processing technology.
