By making maximum use of components on its motorcycle and tactical support vehicles, HDT has benefited from the simplicity of production, while users also will appreciate the commonality of spares. The company’s M2 motorcycle and U1 tactical four-wheeled vehicle have been demonstrated during the show but may be inspected on Stand K401 in Hall 6.

REGIONAL FOCUS Europe - Spain
Spain’s military procurement reflects the doctrinal shift away from the territorial defence towards smaller, professional and more flexible armed forces. As such, the air force is looking towards the Eurofighter and the A400M strategic transport aircraft to maintain its effectiveness in future operations. Both projects, however, have been subjected to delays and ageing aircraft have had to be upgraded.

Well, quite simply the BwFuhrparkService has been in the business of leasing vehicles to the German military for several years and the Smart car is certainly the smallest in its fleet.

MEADS on track for lift-off
MEADS – the trinational medium extended air defence system – is working towards its system-level critical design review (CDR) in August. If passed, this will represent a major milestone on the programme’s path to the first flight test scheduled for 2012.
