Oman’s first Khareef put through its paces
Al-Shamikh, the first of three new 99m ocean patrol vessels being built by BAE Systems Surface Ships for the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) under Project Khareef, has completed its platform and machinery trials during just over three weeks of testing off the south coast of England.

European missile systems house MBDA has won its first contract for the Multi Purpose Combat Vehicle (MPCV) for an undisclosed export customer. Under the terms of the contract, the first production systems will be delivered in 2013.

Oplot builds on Ukraine’s expertise
Ukraine has many years’ experience in the design, development and production of main battle tanks (MBTs) for the home and export markets. On show at IDEX this year are four armoured fighting vehicles, including the Oplot, the country’s latest MBT, which has now completed trials and is ready for production.

The UAE’s Al Jaber Group and FNSS of Turkey yesterday signed an industrial partnership. The new alliance is the first step in the fullscale production of a wheeled armoured vehicle family.
