Local spending continues On the second trade day of IDEX, the UAE government announced another 14 contracts, worth a further AED4 billion, adding to the 21 contracts totalling around AED4 billion announced on the first day.

Among yesterday’s announcements was a contract award to Goodrich, which was selected in preference to BAE Systems to provide reconnaissance pods for the UAE’s F-16 Desert Falcon force, while Dassault Aviation received a Mirage 2000 upgrade contract.

Other large contract winners were Emiraje Systems for communications systems, IGG for a variety of systems and weapons, Nexter Systems for Leclerc tank support, and Bayanat Company for a range of mapping and survey services.
