FLIR Systems has announced two orders of significance for this region. The company has been advised by General Atomics that its Star SAFIRE 380-HD electro-optical/infrared sensor is the leading EO/IR sensor candidate for various Predator XP UAS pursuits in the region.

Talon on target
Raytheon and Emirates Advanced Instruments (EAI) have been codeveloping a laserbased system that turns a regular 70mm aircraft rocket into a precision weapon by adding a guidance package. Known as Talon, the laser-guided rocket has been tested successfully, and will shortly be ready for production.

M777 howitzer orders exceed 1,000 units
The US Department of Defense has awarded BAE Systems (Stand CP200) a contract for an additional 46 155mm/39 calibre M777 lightweight howitzers, which has brought the order book to 1,001 units.
