Fit for a King
His Majesty King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein opened the SOFEX 2010 exhibition yesterday, accompanied by members of the Royal Family and the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. JV progresses towards production
A portable grenade launcher designed to replace the RPG-27 is to be put into production in Jordan next year as part of a joint venture with Russia. To this end, Jordan Russian Electronic Systems (JRESCO) has been formed and is exhibiting the new RPG-32 ‘Hashim’ in the KADDB hall.11 May, 2010
US rifles to be produced in Jordan
LWRC International has come to an agreement with KADDB whereby some of the latest weapons designed by the US company will be licence-produced in Jordan. This follows the selection of the Personal Security Detail (PSD) weapon to equip royal protection units with a weapon that is, unusually, of 6.8mm calibre.11 May, 2010
Customers ready for new vehicles
KADDB is to licence-produce two vehicles for which customers have already been secured. Jordan Light Vehicle Manufacturing (JLVM, a joint venture between KADDB and Jankel) is to produce the Hunter internal security vehicle (ISV) for which Jordan’s Gendarmerie Force has placed an order for 15. In addition, the 71st CT Brigade will begin taking delivery of an unspecified number of vehicles for a specialist dynamic entry requirement and will be fitted with a Tactical Intervention Ladder System.

Little Bird lands at SOFEX
Boeing has brought its AH-6i demonstrator to Amman for the first time to show off the capabilities of the latest version of this light attack/ reconnaissance helicopter. The helicopter first flew on 16 September last year and made its debut at Dubai in November.11 May, 2010

KADDB unveils lightweight MLRS

Iraqi air force continues to rebuild
Since the end of the war in 2003 the Iraqi air force has been steadily rebuilt, with the aid of the US and others. Initially, the IqAF got back into the air with small numbers of light aircraft and donated machines, but the emphasis soon turned to the procurement of platforms that could be used in policing and counter-terrorism missions. Now the IqAF is looking forward to re-establishing itself as a major force in the region.11 May, 2010
